About
Milton Grunwald is a founding partner of Milton Grunwald P.C. He has over 40 years of litigation experience in Criminal Law and Second Amendment and Handgun Rights. He has handled every stage of litigation, from interviewing the client, setting a successful strategy for achieving the client’s goals, protecting their rights, handling all aspects of discovery, and personally litigating trials to verdicts.
Mr. Grunwald graduated from St. John’s University School of Law in 1984. He was selected as the “Best Advocate” in the Sparacio Trial Competition and represented the Law School in the 1983–84 National Trial Competition, advancing over Ivy League law schools to the Regional Semifinals. He was one of a select group of young lawyers accepted into the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office upon graduation. He served with distinction in the District Attorney’s Office, trying many jury cases to verdict including driving while intoxicated, assault, drugs, burglary, domestic violence, and other serious criminal matters.
As a defense attorney, Mr. Grunwald used the skills learned as an Assistant District Attorney in prosecuting all types of criminal cases to defend his clients now accused of crimes. Over the last 40 years, he has focused on vigorously defending the rights of his clients, thoroughly preparing, clearly and persuasively advocating their positions, and creatively pushing for the very best possible outcome.
With this background, Mr. Grunwald has developed an aggressive advocacy approach to litigation, while never losing sight of the full picture of a client’s needs. He implements strategies that address both the immediate problems his clients face and their long-term goals and objectives.
Mr. Grunwald has also used his experience in criminal, constitutional, and administrative law in the field of Second Amendment Rights. He has spent decades assisting individuals through the many pitfalls and interpretations involved in applying for pistol and long gun licenses and permits, drafting and litigating administrative appeals of denials, suspensions, and revocations to Police Licensing Departments and the FBI. He has commenced Article 78 proceedings in the Supreme Court seeking judicial review of administrative actions where deserving members of the community have been denied their rights.
Mr. Grunwald is a resident of the Village of Roslyn. He served 12 years as its Village Justice, preceded by his service as Chairman of the Village’s Board of Zoning Appeals.
He is a graduate of NYU’s School of Public Administration, where he received a Master of Public Administration degree; and a Bachelor of Arts at Brandeis University.
Mr. Grunwald is admitted to practice law in the Courts of New York, the Supreme Court of the United States, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts of the Eastern, Southern, Western, and Northern Districts of New York.
